What Were They Thinking? Michele Bachmann
Aug 14th, 2008 | By admin | Category: FeaturesI don’t know who is worse, Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) or Bill O’Reilly when it comes to making some off the wall comments. I could devote an entire website to the ridiculous things they say. But for this edition of What Were They Thinking we will examine some recent comments that Rep. Bachmann made about drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.
After flying over the ANWR, CNN anchor Ali Velshi had a conversation with Rep. Bachmann:
Velshi: I want to talk to you first about this because those pictures we just showed, we took from an airplane. You were with us on that airplane. You went up there to get a sense for yourself about the impact of drilling in ANWR.
Bachmann: I came away with the idea that this is the most perfect place on the planet to drill.
Oh, and it doesn’t stop there.
Bachmann: The fact of the matter is that Congress is standing in the way of $2-a-gallon gas. It is Speaker Pelosi and the House Democrats who are refusing to let commonsense energy legislation come to the floor.
But in reality, A Department of Energy study completed this May found that drilling in ANWR would lower gas prices only two cents a gallon. And that wouldn’t occur until 2025! Is it really worth it?
And the lies continue. As reported by Thinkprogress.org, Rep. Bachmann claimed that caribou love pipelines, falsely blamed Democrats for blocking renewable energy incentives, and repeated the lie about China drilling for oil off the Florida coast.
I don’t know what’s scarier, the fact that she is a government official or the fact that people voted her into office! So, thanks Michele for making such ridiculously out of touch with reality comments, all the while earning yourself the question, What were they thinking?
