Where Has BioWillie Gone?
Aug 9th, 2008 | By admin | Category: ScienceWillie Nelson was quoted as saying, “There is really no need going around starting wars over oil. We have it here at home. We have the necessary product, the farmers can grow it.”
And staying true to that quote, Willie and his company, Willie Nelson Biodiesel created a soybean and vegetable oil fuel called BioWillie. As of June 2006, there were 22 outlets in six states (per the BioWillie website), most of which (16) were located in Texas, primarily near Dallas. Things seem to be going well for ol’ Willie, right? Well, let’s fast forward just 9 months when reports start saying that most, if not all, outlets selling BioWillie have ceased doing so. Whether this is related to supposed financial troubles is unknown.
I scoured the net for answers on what happened to BioWillie and so far there’s nothing. The official website has been shut down and the biodiesel stations have been closed. Maybe big oil took it as a kick to the balls that Willie would try to sell biodiesel in the nations oil capital and disposed of Willie’s operation. Either way, Bio Willie seems to be a fuel of the past and now we must move ahead to find another alternative to fossil fuels. Hopefully The Pickens Plan will be more successful!
